The 2011 SPOOK Weekend



The menu for the SPOOK formal meal on Saturday 19th November at the Garrison Hotel, Hillsborough, is available online at http://www.spookonline.co.uk/menu2011.pdf

The cost of the meal is £25 per person. (ShUOC might be able to subsidise the cost for students). This includes a three course meal, speeches then disco. Deadline for submission of menu choices/payment is the 31st of October!

This year the SPOOK relays are kindly going to be organised by ShUOC so further details about the relays will be made available nearer the time.

SPOOK Relays.

11am mass start – Burbage Mines

The SPOOK orienteering relays are being organised by ShUOC at Burbarge Mines. There is limited parking on the Ringinglow Road (<10 cars), and some more limited parking available on the Houndkirk Road car park, so it is recommended to car share or travel to the event by bike or foot.

There are two courses available:

  • A Course: 2 people, 3 legs each.
  • B Course: 2 People, 2 legs each.

Each leg is approximately 1.5km.

To enter a team for SPOOK relays please email Kris Jones at b1038037@my.shu.ac.uk with your team name, team members and which course you would like to be entered on.

Entries for SPOOK relay will cost £2 and are to be paid on the day. Maps will not be printed on waterproof paper. You have been warned!

SPOOK Meal

This year’s SPOOK Dinner is taking place at The Garrison Hotel in Hillsborough, 7pm arrival with sit down for dinner at 7:30pm. Meet at 6:30pm in the New Barrack Tavern for a drink beforehand. Dress code is black tie as usual.

SPOOK dinner will be followed by the usual speech, dance off and disco. Please reply with music suggestions for the DJ.

If you want your night to continue with SPOOK/ShUOC after the dinner a large group of us are going to Pop Tarts at the Students Union. Please post on ShUOC’s forum to ask for a ticket: www.shuoc.union.sheffield.ac.uk/forum

SPOOK vs ShUOC Football

The annual football match against ShUOC will take place on Sunday at 2:15pm. Either meet at the football pitches off Ecclesall Road (near the HSBC pitches) at 2.15pm or Goodwin at 1:45pm.

Captain’s Memorial

This year’s Captain’s Memorial is being held at The Nottingham House (Broomhill) from 7pm. Boat races, yard attempts and Captains Awards and ‘prizes’.

After we have been booted out of the pub we shall be heading to Ralph Street’s house (the current captain of ShUOC) for a cracking house party.
